Básicamente el juego está totalmente basado en la película. Algunas personas dicen que los juegos basados en las películas suelen ser malos. El juego está dividido en distintos capítulos o pantallas. Cada vez que te pasas una pantalla sale un trocito de la película, y así va evolucionando la historia.
Durante todo el juego tienes cosas escondidas, como paredes que tienes que tirar y secciones que no ves a simple vista, para darle un poco más de emoción al juego. Por el juego están distribuidas las letritas de HÉRCULES, si las consigues, te dan más puntos y demás.
Además, durante todo el juego, la voz del entrenador de Hércules, Phil, va haciendo comentarios típicos de la peli.
